It’s a Dangerous Business, Going out Your Door

{In less than 2 hours, I board a train a travel 700 miles southwest to visit a very dear friend. You probably won’t hear from me again until next Tuesday or Wednesday, but I promise to take photos of the trip. I leave you with a few quotes about trains and traveling.}

“Remember what Bilbo used to say: It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
– J.R.R. Tolkien

“Do you know what the three greatest sounds in the world are? Train whistles, plane engines, and boat anchors.”
– George Bailey (from ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’)

“Railway termini are our gates to the glorious and the unknown. Through them we pass out into adventure and sunshine, to them, alas! we return.”
– Edward M. Forster

“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
